SMD Young Monks Visit Muktinath Temple

SMD Branch school's senior students visited Muktinath temple (Lo Chumig Gyatsa) which lies in Mustang district, high in the Himalayan range at an altitude of 3800 meters.
The pilgrimage was organized by teachers Ngodup Gyaltsen and Urgen Dorje with great support from the school. On this five-day long pilgrimage (April 24-28), we visited Muktinath, Jomsom, Tatopani and Pokhara.
On 25th April, we reached Muktinath after a day and night drive from Kathmandu. There are 108 stone taps and the temple. The temple is the sacred place of Guru Padmasambhava, widely known as Guru Rinpoche. Continue reading . . .

Shrine Hall Wall Paintings Completed

The murals painted in the shrine hall of Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery, Namo Buddha, were completed at the end of March 2012. Thrangu Tensheng Tsokpa members and project supervisor Dondup Sherpa were actively involved in making this happen. Lama Rigzin is the chief artist who coordinated the project.
The murals of the Karmapas were painted beautifully in pure stone colors according to the pure and authentic Karma Gardi tradition.
On 2nd April, a farewell program was organized at Namo Buddha in the main shrine hall. The monks recited auspicious prayers, aspiration prayers, and long-life prayers during the program, and the manager offered saffron rice to everyone to celebrate the joyous moment.
General Secretary Yonten Gyamtso, Khenpo Chonyi Rangdrol, chief artist Lama Rigzin, and project supervisor Dondup gave speeches thanking all the artists for this successful endeavor fulfilling root guru Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche's vision.
The General Secretary expressed his appreciation to everyone who was involved in this project and presented souvenirs to them.

Celebrating Tibetan New Year, Losar

On 22, Feb. Tibetans celebrated Losar, New Year. Thrangu community also celebrated Losar doing all rituals early in the morning, receiving blessing and greeting each other.
At Thrangu Tashi Choling Monastery, Boudha, all the Sanghas gathered in main shrine hall and performed sixteen Arhat puja, auspicious puja and long life prayers. General Secretary Yonten Gyamtso and Rinpoche's sisters were also present in the ceremony. Everyone offered Khadas greeting HAPPY LOSAR.
Thrangu Community also wishes all Dharma followers, a very HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS LOSAR.

Eye Camp 2012

From March 15 to 17, EARTH Medical Eye Camp was held at Namo Buddha with Kansai Medical University Hospital of Japan. It was free camp organized by Dr. Kayako Matsuyama.
